History / 背景¶
The Gin & Tonic was born out of necessity in 19th-century British colonial India. British soldiers mixed quinine-rich tonic water — used to prevent malaria — with gin to make the bitter medicine palatable. The combination stuck, and it evolved from a medicinal drink into one of the world's most beloved and refreshing cocktails.

English¶
- Fill a highball glass with ice cubes — the more, the better to keep dilution low.
- Pour 60 ml (2 oz) of gin over the ice.
- Slowly top with chilled tonic water. Pour gently down the side of the glass to preserve carbonation.
- Give one gentle stir to combine — no more than two or three turns.
- Squeeze a lime wedge over the drink and drop it in.
- Serve immediately.

- Choose your tonic wisely / 选对汤力水: A quality tonic (Fever-Tree, Schweppes, Q Tonic) makes a huge difference. Cheap tonic will ruin even the best gin. 高品质汤力水(如 Fever-Tree、屈臣氏、Q Tonic)至关重要,低质量的汤力水会毁掉再好的金酒。
