English Steps

  1. Salt rim: Place fine salt on a small plate. Moisten the outside of half the glass rim with a lime wedge (half salt rim), then dip and rotate gently. Tap off excess salt.
  2. Add tequila, Cointreau, and fresh lime juice to a shaker and fill with ice.
  3. Shake hard for 10–15 seconds until the shaker is frosty.
  4. Strain into the prepared glass. If using a rocks glass, add fresh ice; if using a coupe, serve up.
  5. Garnish with a lime wheel.
